Douglas, John - 1827 - Arrived in Newtownards from Scotland with his wife Esther Gunning with one son John who was born aboard ship in Belfast harbour, they went on to have 6 more children in Newtownards James who later moved to Harriston, Ontario Canada, Robert who also moved to Harriston, David who moved to Brooklyn, New York, Eliza who married a Sloan, Rachael who married a Fennell and lived in Ontario, Canada and Mary who married a Dickson and lived at Stratford, Ontario
John Jnr. moved to Canada in 1842 and settled near Stratford, Ontario where he married Mary Newell daughter of James Newell and Mary Thompson of Newtownards on 8th. December 1853 @ Southeast Hope, Ontario - He died @ Huron Co. Ontario 20th. October 1870 - Mary moved to Gilby, North Dakota USA in July 1882 with her younger children and died there 11th. March 1922
