Newtownards Chronicle Saturday 16th. March
1912
Constable Phair summoned Margaret Flynn of West Street for being
drunk and disorderley on 27th. February. Constable Phair stated that at about 11.30 pm
that evening defendant was in Ann Street using obscene language. There was a large crowd
around her. He tried to take her home but she refused so he arrested her and took her to
the barrack.
Defendant in extenuation told the majistrate that she had got word that day of the sudden
death of her brother in Downpatrick and that the left the house and foolishly spent some
money on drink,. she assured the bench that a similar offence would not happen again.
