Good Morning Derek
I believe there may be a slightly distant connection with the Graham family, but any info
you have would be of interest. Some of the info is shown on your website (with a very
minor error noted below)
My late wife's Grandfather was a James McKenna, who, in the 1911 Census, lived at 26
Greenwell Street Newtownards. On that same Census form was an Agnes Graham. I think she
may well have been the niece of James' Mother, Annie. There is also listed on the 'typed'
Census, a John Thomson. This name has been transcribed wrongly from the written Census
document. The surname is actually Robinson, and I think that Annie McKenna was the sister
of Agnes' mother (a Robinson by birth)
James subsequently emigrated to Canada where he married my wife's Grandmother (emigrated
from Glasgow). My wife's Grandmother returned to Scotland without James, and I am in the
process of trying to find out what became of him. To see if he returned to Newtownards and
started up another branch of my wife's family
Regards Steve Mellor
ADD: - I'm pretty sure that James' mother was a
Robinson. It only becomes clear when you see the hand-written Census which clearly shows
the father-in-law as a Robinson. Whoever then transcribed the hand-written info onto a
typed document obviously couldn't read it clearly enough. This would mean that Agnes
Graham (registered as a boarder) was the daughter of Annie McKenna's sister (a Robinson
who married a Graham) Steve
